Izumi family residence

The principal residence of Izumi family who operated the shipping business under the shop name “Hiyoshiya” in the Edo era is a national registered tangible cultural property. The plastering gable wall faces the main street and it is a representative building of the traditional townscape of the Hirogawa Town Hiro Area. The room for the guest built by Heibe in the 8th generation was completed in 1904, and it is a wooden flat house with round pantiles roof that is often seen in Arida district. It was built using high-quality materials throughout, making it delicate and polite, including floor, shelves and transom windows.
