Yogen-ji Temple

Origin of the legend is that Enzen-shonin continued to read 60,000 sutras even after he died because he could not read them all in the Kamakura era. Nichiren Daikokuten is worshiped by Joen-in, the mother of Tokugawa Yoshimune. It became famous as Daikokuten is for successful career because Yoshimune became the 5th lord of the Tokugawa family of Kisyu and a general afterward, even he was the fourth son. At the time of the tsunami in 1707, Yoshimune donated the palace area of the Kisyu clan. The relocated Edo palace remains as a study hall. “Ansei Monroku” which recorded the scene of the tsunami in 1854 with text and illustrations is stored there. The ceremonial exhibition of the Daikokuten is currently taking place on the first Sunday of April every year.
