Appreciation Monument

The head of the village at the time became a founder and built the monument in the Hiromura seawall in 1933. The words of gratitude to Hamaguchi Goryo who established the Hiromura seawall by investing his private property and the predecessors who worked hard to prevent the damage of the tsunami and the words of the wish to prepare for future disasters by reminiscing and protecting their feats are engraved. The ceremony of the “Tsunami Matsuri festival” to be held on 5 November every year is held in the square which is in front of the monument and offer flowers to the monument.
