Hamaguchi family residence

Hamaguchi family residence is a home of Hamaguchi Kichiemon family who supported the construction of Hiromura seawall with Hamaguchi Goryo and a national important cultural property. There is a pillar that shows the height reached by the tsunami in 1854. A main building and a main Japanese-style room which were built in the Edo era, storehouses built in the middle of the Meiji era, and a multiple-storied building built in around 1908 (was named Gyofuro) is remained. In particular, the wooden three-story building, Gyofuro, which is said to have invited prominent guests, is highly valuable in terms of architecture, as it has its originality-rich designs stretched everywhere. In recent years, we have set up open days those allow visitors to visit inside with the guidance of storytellers.
