In the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate period, Hamaguchi Goryo who was keenly aware of the necessity of education opened a practicing place to teach swordsmanship, spear practice, Japanese classical literature and Chinese classics in a barn in the village together with Hamaguchi Toko and Iwasaki Meigaku in 1852. He also taught himself. Even though it’s affected by the tsunami in 1854, it was rebuilt the following year. In 1866, it was expanded and moved to the east side of Anraku-ji Temple in the main street and named it “Taikyu-sha” in hopes of permanence. The enthusiasm for education has been taken over even after the death of Goryo, and it leads to the current Hirogawa Town Taikyu Junior High School and Wakayama Prefectural Taikyu High School. If you apply at the Inamura-no-Hi no Yakata, you can watch it together with the Hiromura Seawall and the bronze statue of Hamaguchi Goryo, with the guidance of a storyteller.
